Go Go Ultra X

I am now the proud owner of a Go Go Ultra X Travel Scooter! Jake came and spent some time with us this weekend--Betsy's boys adore him--anyway, Jake and Greg went to pick up a few groceries and when they got home they had something besides food with them! A very cool red scooter! Now I don't have to rely on whether or not a store has an available scooter for me to use. I have my own! Greg and I went to the mall this afternoon and I was able to go to several different stores. It was so amazingly thoughtful of Greg to get it for me. Now we can go for "walks" around the neighborhood together!

It is very quiet in our house now. Betsy and the boys left for Tacoma late this morning. We had a wonderful week and it just went too fast. We enjoyed them so much. I was pretty much confined to my favorite corner of my favorite couch, but I loved watching them play. I'm sure going to miss Betsy but we're hoping to see them Tuesday at their house. It will be Julian's 2nd birthday that day and we're planning to go to Seattle Tuesday. So hopefully it will work out.

We've decided to think of our time in Seattle this week as a mini-vacation. It will be so great that I can be mobile because of my cool scooter!

Thank you so much for your love and prayers. I have a really sore throat right now as a result of the radiation. I'm hoping it will heal quickly. Thanks again for continuing to pray for us. Love, Julie

Hi, Julie- I sure hope your sore throat and shortness of breath get better quickly. It's supposed to be really nice in Seattle this week, so I hope you have a good trip (with your Ultra X)! In news from the farm: I just got 8 tons of hay delivered, so I feel like a fat little squirrel with my nuts stored for the winter. Speaking of nuts -- Claudia just put in our order for walnuts and filberts from your mom and dad. It brings back memories of sitting around your parents' kitchen table picking out nut meats with Gloria and mom! God be with you as you face your challenges.

I may have the Swine Flu!!! But it is nothing special. It is just the flu. I have not felt like being social for a few days. I seem to have a propensity to get everything the kids bring by. I hope this will be "it" for my illnesses this year.
Do you think I could get on disability? I mean if teaching is making me sick. . .

Hi mom and dad (I know they read your blog) I will call as soon as I feel better. Yes, I eat right, Yes, I take vitamins and even some of those wholeistic (how do you spell that. . . oh yeah, holistic, naw, that doesn't look right, lets just call it quackery, or goofy medicine)remedies, I do eat bread! But I think that there are just some nasty "bugs" this year.

Sorry, I am a little confused-- At least one of my students told me that confusion was a symptom, and that I really didn't need to assign that persuasive paper on National Health care. I did anyway.

My main reason for writing was to ask if your scooter came equipped with pedestrian bumpers?

Love, Gerry

Hi Julie,

I think of you and your beautiful family everyday. Everytime I pass the music room at Fernan I think of you. I think about the consistant and genuine kindness you modeled for your students. You always included me in the music your students were doing. I want to thank you for that. I will never forget the kindness you showed my own children when they were students of yours. We all still laugh with Eric about his dancing debut in the Winton 5th grade talent show. I love you Julie. I am so grateful to be a part of your life. Dianne Devereaux Holbart
